Kristian Vigenin met with the German football legend Franz Beckenbauer


Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin welcomed today the legendary German football player, Franz Beckenbauer, at the MFA.

Minister Vigenin thanked his guest for the support he gives for the development of the relations between the Bulgarian and the German Football Association and congratulated him on the initiatives to support youth sports, implemented in recent years. “Your efforts in supporting young sport talents are admirable and should serve as an example for Bulgaria, our institutions and all the people who can now afford to provide such support," Minister Vigenin said. He underlined the connection between popular sport and diplomacy. According to him, among the biggest successes of Bulgarian diplomacy is the participation and the brilliant performance of our national team in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.


The famous German football player and coach was guest of the Bulgarian Foreign Minister as part of his visit to Bulgaria, during which a continuation of the Cooperation Agreement between BFA and GFA, dating from the 70s, will be signed.
